Facts about Shikra :-
- Shikra is a small raptor (26-30 cm long), has short rounded wings and a narrow and somewhat long tail.
- The female is larger than the male and has dark orange eyes, whereas the male has red eyes.
- Shikra feeds on lizards, reptiles, amphibians, insects, and squirrels.
- Shirka is sometime seen feeding on small birds also.
- They are diurnal, hunting only during the day.
- They are found in woodlands, savannas, sub-tropical, tropical areas and even in populated areas like urban areas.
- The breeding season in India is in summer from March to June.
